Construction begins today on New York University''s Shanghai Campus, creating the country''s first international university jointly established by education institutions in China and the United States.
East China Normal University, which has collaborated with NYU in exchange programs for students, is the Chinese partner in the new degree-granting institute. In addition to benefiting domestic students, the international university is expected to provide useful input to the reform of China''s education system.
