The School of Humanities, first founded in April 1994, was reconstructed in April 2001. Among its 282 staff members, there are 68 professors and 101 associate professors. The school has 2076 students pursing undergraduate and postgraduate studies. At present, the School of Humanities has two national first-rank disciplinary doctoral programs, two post-doctoral mobile stations, twelve second-rank disciplinary doctoral programs, twenty second-rank disciplinary master programs as well as nine undergraduate programs. The school also has two state training and research bases for liberal arts, two key research bases for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and two key disciplines listed by Shanghai Municipality. There are some national academic institutions attached to the school, including the National Committee of Higher Education Self-study Examination for Chinese Specialty, the Association of Chinese Art and Literature Theory, and the Research Institute of College Chinese. The School of Humanities has made great efforts to carry out academic exchanges and collaborations with some universities and institutions in the United States, France, Germany, Britain, Norway, Russia, Japan, Canada and Hong Kong, etc.
